About

Instilling Hope, Growth, and Resiliency

Jen, a therapist with over 20 years experience, specializes in working with children, adolescents, and young adults. She helps them develop positive coping skills and overall stronger mental health. Jen guides her clients towards addressing triggers that can cause poor coping skills. She helps them to see how their thoughts and feelings impact their behaviors. She uses an integrated therapeutic approach that’s tailored to her client's specific needs. She utilizes a variety of approaches...art therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, and psychoanalytical theory. Treatment goals often include: *Promote emotion regulation *Develop strategies to strengthen one's ability to navigate life situations or events *Decrease anxious and depressive symptoms *Increase self confidence; promote healthy relationships by increasing self awareness *Providing support in grief and bereavement. Whether therapy is short term, or ongoing, she wants the work "in session" to bridge to everyday life. Jen is a licensed and board-certified art therapist and licensed chemical dependency counselor. Jen's experience also includes psychiatric and medical/oncology care. She received specialized training in EMDR therapy. She has a Masters degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in art psychotherapy, and a bachelors degree in education from Miami University. Jen works with a network of physicians, school counselors, psychologists and psychiatrists to give her clients the best possible service. She enjoys presenting workshops and trainings to promote mental health wellness and provide psycho-education on an array of topics related to mental health and substance abuse/dependence.
